Love Data Week 2026: Finding and Using High-Quality Law and Policy Data

This event is part of Love Data Week 2026. Laws and policies set standards of behavior and establish the foundations for our communities — where we live, learn, work, and play — ultimately affecting our health, well-being, and equity. Before we can begin to analyze and evaluate the impact of laws and policies, we must first identify where those laws occur, what they say, and examine how they have changed over time. We need data that capture the nuances and complexities of the text of those laws or policies from across jurisdictions, and over time. During this Love Data Week presentation, join experts from the Temple University Center for Public Health Law Research, a global pioneer in scientific legal mapping methods, for a free webinar that defines what quality legal data are, what to look for when choosing legal data or reading studies that use legal data, that shares places where these datasets can be found, and what the field is doing to try to assure that the data that make it into studies are trustworthy.
