Elizabeth (Lizzy) Platt is the Deputy Director at the Center for Public Health Law Research (CPHLR or Center) at Temple University Beasley School of Law. Her work focuses on creating and advancing the research of health effects of laws and policies through legal mapping methods and legal technology. Lizzy leads the annual assessment work for the CityHealth project, the leading assessment of how the nation’s largest cities fare across several different policy domains that impact people’s everyday wellness and quality of life. She leads the development and maintenance of the Prescription Drug Abuse Policy System (PDAPS) collection, a source of rigorous legal data tracking state drug policy laws and leads complex multi-year projects on public health authority, emergency preparedness and pandemic responses, and marijuana law. She is also responsible for leading the full CPHLR legal research portfolio, directing Center-wide operations and strategic thinking, and representing the Center within the broader public health law community.

Prior to joining CPHLR, Lizzy was the CEO/COO of Legal Science, LLC after serving as a senior law and policy manager at the Center for several years. She received her B.A. in Political Science from Clemson University. She received her J.D. from the Syracuse University College of Law and her M.A. in International Relations with a Graduate Certificate in Security Policy Studies from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University. Lizzy is licensed to practice law in Massachusetts.
